New Release

Sing Our Bones Eternal
(March 29, 2023)

A young woman, stranded on a strange isle, discovers her true nature in this deliciously dark debut, perfect for gothic fantasy and folk horror fans. Through the mist and the fog, cloven bodies wash ashore. Sinister songs haunt the tide pools, and burnt offerings rise from the sea cliffs.

Senga Goldie is an outcast on Hourglass Isle. Her father is wicked. Her mother is beguiled. Bound by a covenant to a hungry god, Senga has all the trappings of a huntress, but her world is shattered when a mirror-wielding mermaid befriends her. Caught between blood and water, she must choose between the only life she’s ever known and the deep dark nether.

House of Soul Cakes, in collaboration with Sundown Halloween (www.sundownhalloween.com) is seeking submissions for an annual magazine called "The Spirit Season".

The magazine celebrates the ancient festival of the spirit season, when the veil between worlds is thinnest.  With nature creeping back into the soil itself, winter's cold temperatures and grey clouds allow ghosts, goblins, and ghouls to leap into our world during the time from October to the night of Epiphany (January 6th).

This inaugural issue will be a children's magazine for grownups, combining a Halloween Highlights magazine with nostalgic aesthetic from decades past.

The magazine will only feature creative works that focus on this year's theme AND occur during a holiday or day between October 1st and January 6th.  Holidays can include any special day celebrated around the world in any country, religion, historical event, etc.

The theme for 2023's release is: Ghosts.

We are seeking the following items, suitable for children ages 8 and up, but that will also appease adults interested in these same themes:
